We are well and truly into summer around here and while the weather isn't always guaranteed, there is plenty of activity with local events and festivals this month. It's great to see so many visitors about Sligo, enjoying the best of our town and county. Through July, we've had so many great nights of live music and celebrations. Here's a snapshot for August.
When it comes to local festivals, they are plentiful through summer. The Tread Softly and Sligo Festival are in full swing with plenty of great events planned. This week sees a host of outdoor gigs scheduled in Stephen Street carpark with The Stunning, The Strypes, Jerry Fish & Kieran Quinn all planned to bring their live shows to the people of Sligo from Thursday through until Saturday. Thursday evening our Monday night resident musician, Kieran Quinn, brings his 'Stadium Anthems' theme night to Sligo. Kieran's sell out shows always deliver and this is a great opportunity to see such a show live for free. Prior to the show and also as part of the festival, we are hosting a craft beer tasting and meet the brewer session with Sligo man, Phil Cullen aka Mountain Man Brewing in our pub from 5pm. Event details are here .
This same week also sees two evening race meetings at the Sligo races on Wednesday and Thursday, with the Thursday meeting scheduled as Ladies Day. Plenty of prizes to be won for best dressed. Why not join us after the races to celebrate your wins. We're open late as part of the Sligo Festival, serving until 2am from Thursday through until Saturday night.
The month of August also sees the return of the popular Warriors Run Festival on Saturday the 27th of August from 3pm. It's another sold out event this year and is always an enjoyable day for race participants and spectators. For further details on the festival, go here.
Close to home and in our historic pub, we looking forward to the return of the English Premier League on Saturday the 13th of August. As always we'll be showing full live coverage of all televised games through the season.
Recently, we also released 100 limited edition Annie West print illustrations of our shopfront. Each print is signed, embossed and uniquely numbered by Annie. All prints are printed locally on museum grade paper by Dawn at DigiCreativ. Framing and shipping options are available too. Head over to our online shop or drop into our pub to get yours before they're all gone.
Recently our historic pub was listed in the latest edition of John and Sally McKennas' Guides 'Where To Eat and Stay on the Wild Atlantic Way'. It's a great honour to be listed alongside so many great eateries and accomodation options along the Wild Atlantic Way coastline.
So here's to August and to a packed schedule of local events. We continue to welcome visitors and locals into our pub with live music scheduled every night through summer. Enjoy the festivals and local events and join us for a drink of your choice in our historic pub. Cheers.
