Summer shout out
Now that September has finally landed, we bid goodbye to Summer. A big thank you to all who visited our historic pub while in the area over the summer months and a special thank you to all our regular customers, musicians, performing artists and local businesses for your ongoing, continued support.
It's great to see so many great events planned through the coming months. Here's a snapshot of that.
Now in it's ninth year, the annual Cannonball run event takes place from the 8th to the 10th of September. A unique opportunity to get up close and personal with supercars, vintage cars and monster wheels. The event leaves Dublin on Friday the 8th. at 10am and arrives into Sligo town on Saturday evening at 6:30pm. For full event details and times visit their website here.
Culture Night 2017
Continuing on from last year's success, the annual night of Culture returns on Friday 22nd. of September with venues and public spaces across the island of Ireland opening their doors to host a programme of free late-night entertainment.
As part of the event we are hosting a sculptures in clay workshop under the tuition of artist Bettina Seitz. Both Children and Adults are welcome. The event runs from 4:30 - 5:30pm. That evening we also have more great live music with a Trad session schedule from 9:30pm.
Spanish Armada International Conference
The Conference brings together international shipwreck specialists and scholars, from Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and the USA while also showcasing to delegates all that Sligo have to offer in terms of landscape, food and activities. The conference runs from the 22nd - 24th of September. Full event and ticket details are available here.
With an emphasis on sharing clinical gold, the Firefly summit will see 21 of the Podiatric profession's top minds, 11 female and 10 male, join over 100 delegates in Sligo, Ireland’s adventure capital and home of Firefly Orthoses. This sold out conference is a great addition to our region and we look forward to welcoming all through our doors during their stay here in Sligo. Full summit programme details are available here.
Music & Performing Arts
The Hawk's Well Theatre has another packed schedule through autumn with Sligo's own Seamie O'Dowd, Kieran Quinn, Moxie, Old Hannah and Indian playing live shows through October & November. Check out their full listing of events here.
The Blue Raincoat Offsite presents Beckett Hazelwood in the unique setting of the derelict Saehan factory in Hazelwood Demesne, Sligo at 8pm Thursday 21 - Saturday 30 September. Check our their website for full details here.
Following on from a very successful Sligo Jazz Festival and Sligo Summer festival, Sligo Live returns again in the last weekend of October. Now in it's 13th year, it's set to be another great festival of live music. Event and ticket details here.
The Future of Towns Summit
This year's summit is hosted in Sligo on October 18th. The Summit will help point the way forward in town centre renewal and revival with expert presentations, hands-on workshops and key information to help in town centre regeneration. Full details here.
About our historic pub
With the return of the English premier league and Pro14 rugby, we have all your live sport coverage showing simultaneously across 3 large Tv's.
We've just refreshed our menus again which means we've got more premium whiskey and gins joining a growing collection, as well as new craft beer on draught and in bottle. We are now also offering a new craft beer tasting paddle.
We also continue to offer a rotating premium gin & whiskey of the month. For September, we introduced Slane premium Irish whiskey as our whiskey of the month. A triple casked blend from the famous Boyne valley.
While summer draws to a close we still have a full line-up of live music through Autumn with continued live music nightly through September. Check out our social media pages for the most up to date event details.
