October is off to a great start with bright skies and lots to look forward to in the North West for the month ahead. Here's a snapshot of the highlights planned for October.
October looks to be a busy month for the Hawkswell Theatre. Aside from playing host to a number of great acts as part of Sligo Live 2016, they have a full schedule of live music, theatre, talks and musical theatre. Kieran Quinn returns to the stage with SONGS. A rare opportunity to hear some original new work from our Monday night resident at Thomas Connolly. Kieran is set to be joined by a selection of singers from his renowned theme nights on this concert. Not to be missed!
Alice in Wonderland
Rehearsals for Alice in Wonderland are well underway at the Factor Performance space in Sligo. Alice in Wonderland runs from Wednesday October 26th - through until Saturday November 5th. Sure to be another great local performance. For further information and booking details please see here.
Now in it’s 12th year, Sligo Live celebrates folk roots and indie music on the last weekend in October. This years line-up once again sees a strong national and international musicians coming to Sligo with Paul Brady, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Saw Doctors, Little Green Cars, Mairtin O'Connor Trio & RANT, amongst other great acts line-up in a packed schedule of live music here in Sligo town. The festival runs from the 26- 31 October. Full event & ticket details can be found here.
Aligning with the Sligo Live Festival, we also have a full schedule of live music each night of the festival in our historic pub. We've got a great mix of Bluegrass, Swing Jazz, Trad, Acoustic and Trad Fusion tunes, offering something for everyone. We'll also have a late licence until 2am Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights.
Craft Beer Tastings
This month also sees the return of our popular meet the brewer and craft beer tasting events. Following on from our event with Phil Cullen aka Mountain Man Brewing, we have two scheduled events for the month of October.
On Saturday the 22nd. of October, we have Bog Hopper Brewing from Donegal coming in to talk to us all regarding their start up and current brews. On the evening they'll also be launching their new saison ale. This event will kick-off at 7pm.
Also coinciding with events for Sligo Live, we have Galway Bay Brewing coming in on Thursday the 27th of October. Galway bay will share their very successful brewing stories and journey to-date. We will also have their new addition Althea APA pouring on draft. This event is scheduled for a 7pm kick-off and will be closely followed by an evening of great live music.
